Participants in New Miner A receive comprehensive instruction on recognizing and mitigating electrical hazards alongside other risks prevalent in mining environments, covering aspects like traffic management, mobile equipment operations, and ground stability. Emergency procedures, including medical response and evacuation plans, are thoroughly reviewed, with emphasis on fire safety protocols. Health and safety considerations for assigned tasks are addressed, encompassing safe work practices, regulatory standards, chemical hazards, protective measures, and familiarity with Hazard Communication (HazCom) and Global Harmonized System (GHS) programs. Additionally, statutory rights of miners and their representatives under relevant legislation are explained, along with the roles and responsibilities of supervisors and miners' representatives. An overview of hazard reporting protocols and procedural guidelines concludes the curriculum.
