Course Description
The Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED course is designed to provide individuals with the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively respond to cardiac and first aid emergencies. This course is typically offered by organizations such as the American Heart Association (AHA) and covers a variety of topics.Course Outline

Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR): Participants learn how to perform CPR on adults, children, and infants. This includes chest compressions, rescue breathing, and the effective use of an automated external defibrillator (AED) to restore normal heart rhythm.

Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Use: Training on how to properly use an AED, including how to recognize when it is necessary to use one, how to operate the device, and how to apply electrode pads to a victim's chest.

First Aid Skills: Instruction on how to assess and manage various first aid emergencies, such as bleeding control, burns, choking, shock, and injuries to bones and muscles.

Emergency Response Procedures: Participants learn how to assess an emergency situation, activate emergency medical services (EMS), and provide care until professional help arrives.

Adult, Child, and Infant Care: Different techniques are taught for caring for adults, children, and infants, as their physiological differences require different approaches to CPR and first aid.

Scene Safety and Assessment: Importance of ensuring the safety of the rescuer and the victim before providing care, as well as how to assess the scene for potential hazards.
Learner Outcomes
Overall, the Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED course aims to equip individuals with the confidence and skills needed to respond effectively to emergencies in both the workplace and everyday life. Upon successful completion of the course, participants receive a certification card that is valid for a certain period, after which recertification may be required to maintain proficiency.Notes
Wear comfortable clothing and shoes. Have hair pulled up so it does not interfere while practicing compressions. You will be expected to completed compressions on a manikin on the floor. The only exception is a medical condition preventing someone to get on the floor.
